When marital separation occurs, most people expect divorce to follow. They don’t think restoration of the marriage is possible. But these marriages can be healed. Workshop leaders, Linda Rooks, author of Broken Heart on Hold, Surviving Separation, and her husband, Marv, are prime examples. Their own marriage survived a three-year separation. This workshop will take a unique look into the mind and emotions of a separated woman so participants can offer her the support she needs to heal her marriage. This workshop will describe church-based ministries that are exemplary, or worth imitating, in their outreach or ministry to the community of persons who experience same-sex attraction or who struggle with sexual identity concerns. The discussion will be based on a recently-completed study in which themes emerged based on how church ministries provide services to this population. Gary and Mona Shriver’s own recovery from infidelity led to the establishment of a peer support group ministry that has now been in existence for over 10 years.
